We include detailed fitting instructions (wet fitting) in every ‘easy frame’ BIKE paint protection set we sell. The instructions include descriptive text and images and imply the attachment of the indvidual segments.
The wet fitting instruction should be used by both of our films because there are a lot of advantages and implicates an excellent result. The dry fitting is only used by the glossy type of film if necessary and little segments. The matte type of film has to be fitted wet.
Environmental conditions:
Do the attachment of the film in a closed room. Avoid unnecessary dirt like hair or fuzz. The optimal application temperature is between 15° and 23° Celsius. Please avoid to work in direct sunlight or in windy or rainy weather conditions.
Preparation of the target surface:
The cleaning of the target surface should ideally be done with Isopropanol and a fuzz-free cloth. Only like this can be assured, that the surface is free of any lipids, oils, wax or silicone. In addition to this, please avoid using any kind of polish.
You:
Your hands should be thoroughly cleaned. Avoid wearing a sweater, because some fuzz could be attracted by the static charge of the film. To achieve an optimal and clean attachment result, you should avoid touching the adhesive side of the film. There will be some visible fingerprints otherwise.
Fitting Process:
The environmental conditions and preparation of the target surface are the same as in the dry attachment process.
Assistive equipment: A mounting stand, spray bottle / bowl, water, concentrate / babyshampoo, small squeegee, a fuzz-free cloth
The Process:
- put the the piece you want to attach the film onto on a mounting stand
- align it vertically
- use a mix of water and concentrate / babyshampoo: 500ml – 4 drops (don’t use any conventional cleaning products (Palmolive etc.). Lipophobic substances won’t evaporate and lead to insufficient adhesion.)
- generously spray the target suface with the mixed fluid
- Pull the segment from the paper base and, also, spray the mixed fluid onto it (from both sides) or immerse it into the bowl of fluid
- putting some of the fluid on your finger tips avoids finger prints
- position the segment on the surface, align it, fix it in place and attach it
- working top to bottom and from the inside out (avoids fluid inclusions)
- use the squeegee to smoothen out the surface and get rid of the remaining fluid
- absorb the fluid with the fuzz-free cloth
- if possible: use a hairdryer to eliminate the remaining fluid

Shortly, there will be a video showing this process on this page.
Should you have any questions regarding both attachment processes, feel free to contact us via email or phone.
Detaching of the film
The film should be carefully and evenly heated using a heat gun or har dryer (no more than 60° Celsius!), so the film loosens and can be removed. Do this very carefully to protect the paint of the surface.
